Area & Perimeter

Enlarging the area of a rectangle always make the perimeter larger. Do you agree or disagree. Explain why?

I agree.Because, to get the area of the figure, you have to times the length and the breadth together. Therefore, the bigger number you times with the bigger the area will be and the smaller number you times with the smaller the area will be. So, enlarging the area of a rectangle always make the perimeter larger.

I agree that enlarging the area of a rectangle always make the perimeter larger. It is because when finding the area of a rectangle you refer to its perimeter. For example, you have to multiply the breadth and the perimeter to find out the area of the rectangle. Take this as an example, a rectangle's breadth is 2cm, and its lenght is 4cm. You multiply 2cm with 4cm and it gives you 8cm. The moment the area changes to 32cm, the perimeter changes.2cm times 4cm doesn't equals to 32cm anymore. Instead the breadth is 4cm and the lenght is 8cm. So, the larger the area the larger the perimeter.

i agree because when i times the length with the breath together ,it will get a answer but if increase it will get a bigger answer so enlarging the area makes the perimeter larger

I agree. Because, the area of a rectangle increases with its length and breadth. As the length and breadth increases, the perimeter increases.

I agree. The length and breadth has to increase in order for the rectangle to be larger, hence causing the perimeter to increase.

I agree. Enlarging the area also means that the length abd breadth of the rectangle will be long too, which the perimeter will be greater too

i agree.if you enlarge the area, you have to enlarge the length and breadth too, therefore, enlarging the area.

*perimeter* sorry

I agree. Because by enlaging, the length will become longer.

I agree. It is because whenever we need to find out the area, you need two multiply the length and breadth together. So,when we enlarge the area of the rectangle,it will make the perimter larger.

I agree. If you enlarge the perimeter, the area will be bigger. If you enlarge the size of the rectangle, the area will be bigger and so will the perimeter. so enlarging the size makes the perimeter change.

Queenie:
I agree.

Reason is:

When the area of a rectangle increases, the perimeter will also increase by the following added to the area. If the area of a rectangle is decreased, ther same thing will happen to the perimeter.

Example: A rectangle has a breadth of 4cm and a length is 9cm. Find the area and perimeter of the square.

To get the area of the rectangle, I'll have to use 4cm x 9cm = 36cm2
To get the Perimeter, I'll have to use 4cm + 4cm + 9cm + 9cm = 26cm

If I enlarge the area by 8cm2, I'll get 44cm2. I'll get a perimeter of 34cm.

The perimeter of the rectsngle increased by 8cm when I added 8cm2 to the area.

I strongly agree as the area of the rectangle is calculated by its length muiltiplied by its breadth. Such as we make the perimeter larger,we are increase either its lenght or its breadth. Therefore we are also increasing the area too.

i agree because , to get the area we must multiply the lenght and breadth therefore the perimeter will enlarge

I agree.Because for example, if the rectangle is 5cm by 10cm,the area will be 50cm2.And the perimeter will be 30cm. If we enlarge the rectangle to 10cm by 15cm, the area will be 50cm2, while the perimeter will be 50cm.So, enlarging the area will cause the perimeter to be larger

I agree. As we make the length or breath higher,we increase the perimeter of the figure.

I agree.to get the area, you always have to multiply the length by the breadth. So,to enlarge the area, you always have to enlarge the perimeter.
